Coming events: May and June Events

Saturday, May 2 – 9:30 – 12:00

The Esther Mission Circle, Atlantic Mission Society, of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn invites you to participate in the KAIROS Blanket Exercise on Saturday, May 2, 9:30 a.m. to noon, in the church hall. Lunch to follow. The KAIROS Blanket Exercise explores the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Blankets arranged on the floor represent land and participants are invited to step into the roles of First Nations, Inuit and later Métis peoples. The workshop helps people to understand how the colonization of this land impacts those who were here long before settlers arrived. It engages people’s minds and hearts in understanding why the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples is often broken and how we can take action together.

There is no cost for the event but please register by April 30. Contact Jeff Lackie, 902-922-2366 sutherlandsriver_upc@ns.sympatico.ca, or Iona MacLean, 902-485-4298 ionamac@eastlink.ca
